My name is Mrs. Williams, and am excited to open Rea Farms STEAM Academy after spending my last two years at Mint Hill Middle School, and the previous four at Crestdale. I am a huge family person, and my mom and brother are like best friends. I have seen how fast you can lose someone, too many times. Family is irreplaceable. The picture above is at my recent wedding, where we changed our plans at the last minute due to COVID-19 and got married in my moms back yard. Pictured are our biggest supports, and those that we had attend our wedding. My dad is an angel who sees every step I take!
A catamount at heart, as I attended Western Carolina University for undergraduate studies, the mountains hold a special place in my life, and I visit frequently. In all true Carolina fashion, I go from the mountains to the beach, and completed my graduate degree from East Carolina University. My brother now jokes I need two more certificates, one from North Carolina and one from South (luckily my wife has multiple degrees from South Carolina)!
I will be teaching health and physical education, and am excited to start our athletics program as the athletic director. I have previously served as an athletic director at another middle school in CMS. I enjoy meeting my students and keeping in touch after they are no longer my students, and have moved on to being an adult themselves. My students are my world, and each and everyone of my former students have made an impact on my life, and the way I teach my classes. I am excited for this new opportunity in such a beautiful community.
Advocacy is a huge part of health and physical education from the subjects themselves remaining in schools, to confidence in our students. I was fortunate enough to travel to Washington DC in 2012 in order to advocate for Health and Physical Education funding for schools, and learned more than I ever could have imagined. Actually I learned enough that I co-wrote an article with the faculty member and other students who attended with me (Physical Education, Politics, and SPEAK Out! Day).
I had 3.5 years of athletic training courses and practical experience with a wide variety of teams while in college. I worked with everyone from high school football, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball, track and field, to college women's basketball, men's soccer, track and field, cross country, and women's volleyball.
2018: East Carolina university, Masters of Art in Education degree in Physical Education
2014: Western Carolina University, Bachelors of Science in Education for Health and Physical Education
